Emily’s Heirloom High Tea Bridal Shower

Emily’s blush pink bridal shower held a the private residence of a family friend is perfectly elegant and features true vintage and antique details, many of which are family heirlooms. The decor for the shower was inspired by Emily’s great grandmother’s bone china and the idea of creating a modern interpretation of High Tea.

As Emily’s guests entered the home, they were greeted with a “wishing tree” adorned with tiny bird cages and dripping crystals. The guest were asked to write their wishes for the Bride on little tags and hang them from the branches of the tree.

Emily’s guests were then invited to enjoy delicious refreshments including Green Apple, Fig, and Brie Crostini, gourmet crackers and specialty cheeses like Honey and Sea Salt Gruyere and Shaved Chocolate Cheddar, and home made creamy soups and delicate salads.

The guests dined at tables set with unique place settings featuring Emily’s Great Grandmother’s bone china, antique sterling silver flatware, and pink Depression Glass soup bowls, all of which are family heirlooms interspersed with other pieces collected from various boutiques or found on Ebay. The place settings also included cupcakes made by Emily’s mother and friend nestled in teacups, and vintage handkerchiefs with a love note on Emily’s behalf. The centerpieces included fresh Cherry Blossom branches and everything sat upon blush pink lace table linens and strands of pearls.

The most heart warming details included a vignette which featured Emily’s Great Grandmother’s wedding dress, gloves, and guest sign-in booklet from 1928. It also included a vintage pink apron from 1930, a gift from a family friend to Emily.

The climax of all of the details from Emily’s shower was the gorgeous dessert table! The yummy desserts included a chocolate cake and vanilla french macarons with a caramel Swiss meringue filling, both made by Emily’s mother and friend, artisan sugar cookies decorated by the amazingly talented Sweet-T-Cakes, Fleur de Sil Sea Salt and Caramel chocolates, lemon pound cake dessert cups with fresh berries and home made whipped cream, an assortment of mini cheesecakes, chocolate and coconut macaroons (using a guarded family recipe), and vanilla bean pot de creme. All of these delicacies were displayed on a table that was crowned with a stunning antique headboard and foot-board, rented from Urban Barn.

The most touching moment of the day was when Emily was presented with her somethings old, new, borrowed, and blue. For her something old, Emily’s mother gave her an antique cameo pendant dating back to the late 1800’s which fell right in with all of the other heirloom pieces that were used for the shower. Emily was given her “Bridal Trousseau” by her mother-in-law as her something new, a diamond tennis bracelet from a family friend as her something borrowed (making her the 4th bride to wear the bracelet), and a vintage handkerchief with a sweet message from her grandmother as her something blue.

Emily’s shower had it all! It was definitely an event not to miss! Here are a few words from Emily about her special day:

“My bridal shower was an amazing and strange experience all in one. Normally, my mom and I put on these kind of events together, so when I was told that the shower would be a surprise and I wasn’t allowed to help, I felt totally out of my element.
Those feelings aside, when I walked into my shower, I think my jaw dropped to the floor. Everything was beautifully and perfectly executed. The vintage tea party theme made for a bridal shower fit for the Queen herself. With touches of items from my great-grandmother’s wedding, I felt as though I had left reality and had stepped into a dream come true. I absolutely loved all of the vintage dishes used at each place setting and the genuinely vintage handkerchiefs each guest got to take home with them.
Being surrounded by the company of women I have known throughout my life, it was so nice to be able to sit and visit, relax, eat and enjoy delicious food with a variety desserts that were even better (French macarons? YUM!).
My bridal shower is the most beautiful event I have attended to date (until my wedding comes, that it) and I am so grateful for my mother and her best friend for planning and throwing it, my amazingly talented friend/photographer for capturing such a special event, as well as all of my friends and family who took the time to come and celebrate an important time in my life!!!”

A Parisian Themed Fete + a Beautiful Mommy – To – Be

I can’t say enough how grateful I am for my job! Through photography I have met so many amazing people and this beautiful mommy-to-be is one of them! I am so happy for her and her husband and I cannot wait to meet the little “ginger” they have been waiting to arrive for such a long time.
Kim’s mother and close family friends totally went over the top for her baby shower and every detail was absolutely perfect! And I absolutely ADORED all of the cute little hats that family and honored guests wore. (I even got to be one of the lucky recipients and that seriously made my night!)
My favorite moment of the night was when Kim was presented with children’s books that her guests brought in lieu of greeting cards. Her mom gave a very touching speech about the book she purchased to give to Kim many years before and was so over joyous to finally be able to share it with her.
This little bundle of joy is going to be loved so very dearly and will be completely and utterly spoiled! Just as it should be!

Fan-stache-tic Baby Shower

This Mustache/Bow Tie/Barber Shop themed baby shower was super cute and I’m sure that the mommy to be was thrilled with both the adorable decor and all of the friends and family who joined her in celebrating the impending arrival of her first born! Each detail was hand crafted with love by Cortnie Bigelow, as well and the delicious meal. Congratulations, Kiera! Your little one will be welcomed into this world with a wealth of loved ones to greet him!

A Shower for Baby Lockhart

I just wanted to share a few quick snapshots from a baby shower I attended a couple of weeks ago, hosted and decorated by my sweet friends, Amber Hansen and Cortnie Bigelow. I loved the darling hot air balloon theme and all of the decorations on the dessert table were just perfect! Everything was hand made and you could feel the love and care that was put into each detail. I have no doubt that the guest of honor, Erica, felt very special and this adorable baby shower! Congratulations on the upcoming arrival of baby #6, Erica!!! I hope he is a good eater and a heavy sleeper! XOXO

Christina’s Maternity Photos + Baby Shower

I just finished up a baby shower that I participated in throwing for a dear, sweet friend of mine and I am so happy with the way everything turned out!!! Most of all, I’m pleased that my friend felt “spoiled” and “appreciated”! Mission accomplished! And for an added bonus, I tricked her into having a maternity session, which for some cuh-razy reason she didn’t want to do! Can you believe this girly is due 4 weeks from the time these photos were taken?! If only……… <3 <3 <3 I can’t wait to meet baby Waverly in just a couple of weeks!!!

Elder Kitterman is Home

Just in case you didn’t get the memo, Elder Zack Kitterman is home from the mission he served in Mexico for two years for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints! His adoring mother hired me to take photos of his homecoming at the Ontario Airport and it was seriously an amazing experience for everyone involved. It was so awesome that Zack and his family were able to focus on each other and their important reunion while I snapped away, documenting their candid reactions. We sneaked in a few group shots and some portraits of poor Zack too, who had no idea he would be getting off a million hour flight just to have a camera shoved in his face! But he was a great sport and his family and friends were seriously so genuinely thrilled and over excited that it was hard for it not to rub off on everyone around. I’m pretty sure the people at the airport thought this group was a bunch of lunatics, although I kept hearing from people passing by that they wished they had an entourage as excited to see them when they arrived as this group was. Welcome home, Elder Kitterman! You are one loved person!

Little Heart Warriors

Last year I was asked to donate my service for a charity 10k event called Ethan’s Run. I enjoyed every minute of my experience and I was thrilled when I was asked back again this year to cover what was once called Ethan’s Run and is now the Little Heart Warriors 5k run. It’s always so amazing to me how people of all different ages, sizes, colors, and genders can come together in the wee hours of the morning and run with such contagious joy emanating from them. I loved all of the happy, smiling faces I got to take pictures of in the name of a very worthy cause; raising money for children with CHD. I hope to be invited back next year, and for many, many years to come!!! Make sure to click on this link to check out all of the photos from the Little Heart Warriors run. All proceeds from the print sales will be donated!

Beautiful Ballerina Birthday + 3 features!

I think Megan’s 5th birthday party was probably the cutest little girl’s party I have ever been to! And I think the editors at Kara’s Party Ideas, Party Inspirations (from Sydney, Australia!!!), and Baby Lifestyles agree! All three amazing websites featured Megan’s party! I’m super excited for Leesa from Cakes and Mudpies because all of her hard work paid off and I’m of course thrilled for the feature as well! Enjoy my official full post of this darling petite fete! And make sure to check out Leesa’s blog for tutorials on how she crafted everything.

Baby Shower

Pinterest will be the death of me! The death of me and my bank account! I have never been much of a crafter, but along came Pinterest and now I have a love-hate relationship with it. I love all of the wonderful ideas, tutorials, and recipes it gives me access to, but I hate how it’s such a time and money eater. Mostly I love it though, so Pinterest has a happy little place on my favorites toolbar on my desktop.
Earlier this month I was so lucky to be able to help out with a baby shower for one of my dear friends, Trisha. I was put in charge of decorations and in the past that would have absolutely terrified me, however, now that I have Pinterest as a resource for all things adorable I was more than up for the challenge. Here are the fruits of labor of mine and my crew of amazing friends and family who put their shoulder to the wheel to pull this little shin dig off. I hope you love it!

Ethan’s Run 2011

I couldn’t think of a better way to spend a Saturday morning than working with other volunteers at the Ethan’s Run 10k event. It was such an honor to be able to donate my services as a photographer to such a worthy cause. The energy surrounding the event was nothing but uplifting and joyful. The weather was perfect for the 10k and Family Fun Run (suuuuuper bright for picture taking, but juuuuust right for running:) and seriously, the event was a total success! Thanks to all of the wonderful committee members who organized the run and Mormon Helping Hands, the local Sheriff’s department (especially for watching my back while I blindly ran out into the middle of the street to shoot runners), the Boy Scouts of America and all of the other volunteers! Also, a special shout out to Lifestream for staking out the event to collect blood donations! Every little bit helps in the fight against congenital heart defects and I know that the families of the children who are fighting CHD could feel all of the love and support emanating from everyone there. I truly hope to be able to participate in many more years of Ethan’s Runs to come!
Prints, CD’s, and Digital Negatives are available for purchase at 100% of the proceeds will be donated to Loma Linda University Hospital and future Ethan’s Run events to help in the fight against Congenital Heart Defects.
