Engagements Seniors Portraits Families
Q: What should I wear?
A: Your attire will ultimately determine the overall mood of your portrait collection. If you wear jeans and flip flops, your photos will feel fun and casual. Stilettos and pencil skirt or suit and tie = a formal feel. Think about how you want your collection to come across when picking out your wardrobe. Wearing soft colors and neutrals is always a great choice, especially when taking photos in natural surroundings. We also recommend mixing patterns and textures and wearing lots of accessories. Long, flowing dresses are always a great choice and we can’t recommend choosing one of these as an outfit for your session enough! The most important thing is that you feel comfortable and beautiful (or handsome) in what you’re wearing because if you don’t, it will show in your pictures.
Q: How many outfit changes should I bring?
A: We recommend 2-3 outfits. Ladies – please make one outfit a long, flowing dress! Additional dresses or skirts are always a good choice, but it’s nice to have a casual outfit in the mix as well! However, we DO NOT recommend outfit changes for Family Sessions.
Q: Where should we go to take our photos?
A: The best way to determine where we should go to take your photos is for you to have an idea of what you want the final outcome to be; do you want your photos to be whimsical or ethereal, urban and edgy, or rustic or country? If you have access to an exclusive location, like privately owned property or a building that no one else will have the opportunity to shoot at, that may be a good option. Or maybe there is a location that has sentimental value to you because it’s where you met your sweetheart. Any location that will help tell your story is a good idea! We have a lot of really great locations that we use regularly or we are happy to find and try new locations based on your personal needs!
Q: Will Shillawna Ruffner Photography travel?
A: Absolutely! We love to travel! There is no additional fee for us to travel to locations within a 40 mile radius of Newburgh, IN. Travel outside of this radius is billed at $1.00 per mile and will be added to the package price and paid up front. Travel to locations requiring airfare, hotels, vehicle rentals, etc. will be billed as part of the package price and paid up front.
Q: How long will my Portrait Session last?
A: Portrait Sessions typically last for about 1 hour. They can run short or long depending upon the individual circumstances of the shoot.
Q: Should I bring props? Will Shillawna Ruffner Photography provide any props?
A: Yes! Please bring any props you like (things to hold, furniture to sit on, etc.), especially if they have a personal significance in your life! Props make for fun shoots and give you something to interact with which can create some great movement in your body! ( Movement = GOOD!!!) We do have a limited number of props available for you to use on a shoot by shoot basis.
