Charlie and Emily’s wedding was the epitome of class! There were so many beautiful details and so much heart and history included in those details! There were many moments from that day that warmed my heart and reminded me of why I do what I do.
Getting Ready
Emily chose to get ready at her grandmother’s home in Evansville, IN. Not only was there an abundance of picture-perfect nooks and crannies and plenty of gorgeous, natural light, this is where Emily spent many of her childhood days. I thought about all of the memories that she made in that home as she grew up. I thought it was such an amazing choice to prepare for her wedding day in a place that held so much history for her.
Emily wore her Mother’s pearl earrings and pearl necklace, the same ones her Mother wore to her own wedding. She carried her great-grandmother’s handkerchief. Emily’s grandmother attached a little note to the handkerchief telling Emily of its rich 100+ year old history. Emily also made sure to include a sixpence in her shoe. However, it was not just any sixpence; this piece was collected by her grandmother on a trip to England, and worn in both her grandmother’s and mother’s shoes on their wedding days. If that doesn’t melt your heart, I don’t know what will!
Emily’s dress and shoes were her “Something New” This handkerchief belonged to Emily’s Great Grandmother and the pearl necklace was worn by Emily’s Mom at her wedding. Can’t forget the sixpence! These traditions have so much more meaning when the item is passed down from generation to generation! How sweet are these maids’ reactions?!
After Emily was dressed, she stole a moment to have a first look with her father. I loved seeing their sweet, silly relationship unfold during this interaction!
Then it was time for me to head off to First Presbyterian Church to meet Charlie for a few getting ready photos, and to prepare for the Ceremony!
These guys were so much fun and teased Charlie the entire day! Exactly what they are supposed to do! As we were shooting the groomsmen photos, Emily and her bridesmaids arrived at the church, so Charlie and the Groomsmen had to cover their eyes until the girls were safely hidden inside. I think someone didn’t get the memo…
The Ceremony
Emily’s family has been a part of the congregation at First Presbyterian Church in Evansville for generations. Both Emily and her mother were part of their choir. Of course, the organ, organist, and choir came to celebrate with this amazing couple and their families! The Organist even composed a song just for the bride and groom. The ceremony was so emotional and filled with gorgeous music! I absolutely loved the experience and there wasn’t a dry eye in the room!
We finished up the Bridesmaids, combined Bridal Party, and Family photos at the Church, and then it was time to focus on Charlie and Emily!
The florist totally outdid herself on these flowers! You’ll see what I mean…just keep scrolling! It was EXTREMELY windy, so it didn’t take much to get that veil up in the air! The wind pretty much did all the work for us!
The Bride and Groom
I adore the lace details on Emily’s dress.
The Reception
The wedding reception was held at Rolling Hills Country Club in Newburgh, Indiana. I LOVE this venue so much! Not only is it breathtakingly beautiful, but the ballroom has great lighting and the staff are amazing to work with! The catering is also one of the best in the area! Rolling Hills never disappoints!
KD Decor provided all of the flowers for Charlie and Emily’s wedding and she completely outdid herself! The arrangements were so luscious and there were so many different kinds! I had a ball photographing all of the details! Bailey Marie Studios provided the Invitation Suite as well as the Escort Cards, Table Signs, and the hand lettered Mr. and Mrs. labels that adorned the sweetheart table.
No wedding is complete without a cake from Piece of Cake Bakery, which was complimented by “The Cookie Table.”
Let me tell you about these cookies! First of all, there were HUNDREDS of them! And they were gorgeous and so delicious! More incredible than that, the cookies were all made by Charlie’s relatives and were delivered from all over the East Coast for this big day! It took countless hours to create these confections and many more hours of driving to get them to Indiana! And it was so sweet seeing all of Charlie’s Aunts, cousins, mother, and other family members lovingly and painstakingly putting this table together. It was a sight to see and a beloved tradition in the East Coast, Pennsylvania in particular.
KD Decor collected these copper vases from all over the globe for this wedding! Bailey added this gold leafing by hand! The extra sparkle adds so much to the escort cards! Emily’s Grandmother is an artist and created this beautiful hand-painted flower for the greeting card that was placed at every table setting. I promise, this cake tasted as good as it looks! All of these cookies were baked by Charlie’s relatives and driven from Delaware, New Jersey, and New York for the reception here in Indiana!
After tender words of remembrance and devotion from Emily’s father, Maid of Honor, and Charlie’s brothers, it was time to party! Charlie and Emily danced the night away to a live band and were even invited on stage to lead their guests in a song of celebration! What a night to remember!
Oh, how sweet are these tears! This dad is so proud of his baby girl! Charlie’s dad’s reaction to Charlie dancing with his mother was so touching. Live music is such a treat! I wish more couples chose to hire a band for their wedding! It creates the coolest ambiance! It was so cute how much Charlie and Emily got into serenading their friends and family! Definitely a wonderful memory!
It’s always an honor to be a part of a wedding, but it makes it that much better when there is so much love, thought, imagination, and FUN incorporated into the event. I will always cherish the time I spent and the images I created for this couple and their family.
