I met baby Evelynn’s mommy, Katrina, at my gym. I was so flattered when Katrina asked me to photograph her maternity session. I was even more excited when she invited me into her home to photograph Evelynn’s newborn photos.
I love these little lifestyle newborn/family shoots! As a mother myself, I know how sacred the first few weeks of a new baby’s life are and how quickly they pass. Oftentimes, new moms and dads are in such shock a fog, especially when they have just had their first baby, that it is really difficult to even remember that period of time. Which is so sad because it really is so precious!
For this reason, I am a huge proponent of planning a newborn shoot while you are still pregnant! Once the baby arrives, the feedings, diapers, laundry, and fatigue completely take over. By the time you get your feet back under you, your baby is already a month or two old! Making sure to book a newborn photographer while your baby is still in utero and your brain is still (somewhat) working will ensure you have a photographer who will do all of the heavy lifting. Preserving all of those special, fleeting, and tiny details and moments is something I promise you won’t regret.
Some time has passed since I shot this session and baby Evelynn will soon be turning one year old! I am so excited to meet up with her and Katrina again in a few months to document another huge milestone in their beautiful lives! I’m sure the photos will turn out simply magical!
I love this little vignette of Evelynn’s crib. And doesn’t Katrina look just beautiful! Remember that tiny tiara from Katrina’s Maternity Session? I adore the tops of newborns’ heads! They are so soft and smell so good. Definitely something you want to remember! This little one was so sweet! I love it when I can snag a photo that documents how tiny a new babe is! There is nothing more sacred than the bond between mother and child.
