When I met with Valerie and Eddie at our first consultation, they shared with me a piece of information that completely floored me. A couple of years earlier, I photographed Valerie’s cousin’s wedding. She was one of the bridesmaids and enjoyed working with me so much, she decided then and there she wanted me to photograph her wedding. How incredibly flattering is that?! Needless to say, she and Eddie booked with me and I am so happy they did!
The Engagement Session
We met up at Vanderburgh County 4-H Center for the first half of Eddie and Valerie’s session. I found the most stunning trail toward the back of the facility what was perfect for their photos! This tree-lined pathway was strewn with autumn leaves and the light was coming in at the perfect angle to create the happiest glow around my subjects.
We took some time snapping some adorable shots with the couple and their super cute and super fluffy puppy, Lyla. Oh, dear, sweet Lyla! She was so mild mannered and mellow. I just loved her soft, white coat and she was the cutest little cuddle bug for the photos. Eddie even made the sign that hung around her neck. So, so darling!
Look at Lyla’s face! Oh my gosh, she gives me the warm-fuzzies! I adore this. It’s so heavenly and overflowing with love. I’ll take that glowy light any day!
The Runway
The second half of Eddie and Valerie’s engagement session was, what I call, a “Bucket List Shoot”. I have always wanted to shoot portraits at an airport and/or with a jet. Partly because I knew it would be a fun and exciting new challenge, but also because it’s simply not something most people get to do.
What took this session location to a completely different level was the fact that there was a significant and meaningful reason for why Eddie and Valerie wanted to shoot there. Eddie is a Safety Officer (read: Firefighter) for Evansville Regional Airport and is there every day. But the cherry on top is that he has his pilot’s license and is an avid flyer.
When I asked Valerie to tell me about her first date with Eddie, she said, “The first time we ever met was at Tri-State Aero. Our first date lasted for 6 hours. Eddie told me all about planes (even though it went in one ear and out the other). I thought it was pretty cute to see his passion for aviation.”
And so our fate was sealed and both my personal dreams and those of my cute couple’s were realized!
This is such a dreamy shot! Their love is so genuine, it’s tangible. The light couldn’t have been more perfect and we timed these airport shots perfectly! Be still my heart!
Eddie and Valerie will be wed this June at City Church in Evansville, Indiana and will celebrate with their friends and family at the newly opened City View at Sterling Square, which is a stunning downtown venue! I cannot wait to capture more memories for this duo. I won’t be surprised if a few more items are checked off my Photography Bucket List when I work with them next!
