German Heritage Wedding Inspiration

Styled Photography

This little stunner is another styled shoot I had the pleasure of shooting for Engaged! River Valley magazine.

The Venue

The Bauerhaus is a wedding and event venue that has been in Evansville forever. It was once the home of the Bauer family, who are of German descent. Much of the architecture is styled after that of their homeland, so it was important to the creative team to highlight the history of this vintage building.

The Inspiration

JoElle Knight really put her creative genius to work here and had the greatest ideas! She loved the idea of incorporating the Eastern European tradition of May Poles. You can see deconstructed versions of May Poles in much of the decor including the ribbon table runner and ceremony backdrop. Bauerhaus Catering even topped one of the wedding cakes with a mini May Pole! It was perfect!

The Food

Speaking of Bauerhaus Catering, I am wholly impressed with their talent in creating the most unique, diverse, and scrumptious food! They did their homework and created some of the most beautiful dishes that echo traditional German Wedding fare. I thought the prettiest dish was the German Wedding Soup served in a beautiful silver bowl.

Bauerhaus Pastry crafted a multi-tiered German chocolate cake as well as several other tasty desserts that were so pretty! And they even hand made pretzels with all the fixings for a DIY pretzel bar.

The Flowers

Emerald Design provided all of the gorgeous florals that adorned and accented every angle of this styled shoot. Whitney brought the prettiest Spring blooms that brought so much life and color to this shoot. 5 Pink Peonies created the most stunning hand painted invitation suite that complemented this concept perfectly.

This was a fun shoot for me because it definitely challenged my photography skills, and also because I appreciated the history and heritage that was being celebrated. I hope you do too!
