Any reason is a good reason to schedule a photo session! Celebrating a 50th wedding anniversary definitely fits into the “good reason” category for sure!
Sharon and Doug’s daughter, Jennifer, contacted me because she wanted to surprise her parents with a portrait session in commemoration of their amazing achievement. (Yes, I consider staying married for half a century an accomplishment!) She wanted me to create a fresh take on some of their wedding photos. Sharon STILL fits in her wedding dress (ALSO an amazing accomplishment in my book) and Jennifer thought it would be really sweet to get some photos of her parents dressed up in their wedding refinery again. I 100% agreed! We all met at The Rathbone and snapped away while Sharon and Doug snuggled their way through our time together.
I speak from experience when I say that the burning fire of new love and desire does fade with time. But a stronger, more confident, and all encompassing love replaces it. The capacity to love and care for your spouse with this kind of seasoned affection is incredible. It only develops with time, sacrifice, and work. Work that I have no doubt Doug and Sharon put in. All the same, it was adorable seeing these two love birds canoodle like they were newlyweds.
