It was an honor working with and photographing Alaina and Alex’s gorgeous nuptials. They and their families are sweet as pie and I can’t wait to share the photos from their country club wedding.

Getting Ready at Home

Alaina chose to prepare for her wedding day at her childhood home, still occupied by her parents. It was the perfect choice because so many memories fill the walls of that place. Plus, lots of pretty, natural light and open space made for some truly beautiful moments. After a few giggled-filled photos of Alaina and her Bridesmaids in their robes, the girls went off to dress while mother and daughter stole away to get Alaina in her gown. I personally love it when just mom helps the Bride dress so that they can have their own special moment on the wedding day.

Once Alaina was dressed, she opened a hand-written letter and gift from her Groom, Alex. Then she enjoyed a reveal moment with her Bridesmaids who did not disappoint with their reactions. Alaina’s dad was equally as sweet when he became over emotional upon seeing Alaina in her wedding dress. He was bawling uncontrollably and I was so happy I was able to capture that moment for Alaina and her family to treasure.

Alex took advantage of the open space and privacy at the Country Club wedding venue to get ready. He and his boys  found it hilarious that they were helping a grown man get dressed and laughed throughout the process. I can’t fault them, but tradition is tradition! After Alex was dressed, he also took a moment alone to open the letter and gift Alaina gave to him.

The Ceremony at Church

Alex and Alaina wanted to keep it traditional by seeing each other for the first time as Alaina was walking down the aisle. They couldn’t resist, however, sneaking away together before their ceremony for just a moment. They met with their backs to one another and held hands while exchanging words of love and encouragement.

The ceremony was held at Alaina’s home church, Crossroads Christian Church, in Newburgh, IN. The chapel was filled to the brim with loved ones who witnessed the happy couple take their vows. It was an emotionally charged ceremony for Alaina and Alex and their friends and family. Happiness and love overflowed the church.

The Bridal Party at the Country Club

The new Mr. and Mrs. Hensen’s Bridal Party was a lively group who stole the couple away post-ceremony. They decompressed together with “adult beverages” on the party bus. They enjoyed themselves so much so, we had to act quickly to get a few group shots at the Country Club before it was time to focus on the Bride and Groom for their portraits.

It was an absolute DREAM working with Alaina and Alex during their portrait session. They are such an easy going yet decisive couple, which is a breath of fresh air. Their love, admiration, and respect for each other shone through every ounce of their countenances. I couldn’t have been happier with the time well spent around the lake at Rolling Hills Country Club. We snapped away in the glowing evening sun and froze time for this couple who is so obviously in love. Alaina was the epitome of bridal beauty and Alex was every bit as dashing as she was delightful.

When we were finished with portraits we high tailed it back to the Reception with the newlyweds leading the way. They couldn’t wait to get the party started and their excitement was contagious!

The Reception at the Country Club

My favorite thing about the Rolling Hills Country Club wedding venue is the floor-to-ceiling windows and all of the natural light I get to work with! (That, and their amazing food! The catering is delicious.) The Hensens chose a simple, neutral color palette so as not to compete with the beauty of the space. It was a great decision and I loved how the focus was on the comfort of their guests and the dance floor.

The Party at the Country Club

After some touching moments during the Reception Formalities, it was finally time to let loose! And let loose they did! Alaina and Alex spent more time and energy on the dance floor with their guests than a lot of my couples do. Their zest for life, passion for their friends and family, and utter joy of finally becoming Man and Wife filled every inch of the ballroom!

The night would not have been complete without an exit as phenomenal as the rest of the day. Alex and Alaina finished their evening off with more laughter and one more passionate kiss, surrounded by dear friends and family all holding blazing sparklers. It was an epic moment during an unforgettable wedding.
