The Loft at Walnut Hill in Bloomington, IN is a breathtaking barn wedding venue, perfect for any country-chic brides out there. This location offers everything from lovely little nooks and crannies for intimate wedding photos to sweeping views for unforgettable shots. With both indoor and outdoor spaces, the cutest cottage, picturesque barns, and pristine landscaping, you really can’t go wrong here! I adored my experience photographing Lauren and TJ’s wedding at The Loft because if offered so much, but mostly because the staff were incredible to work with! I can’t wait to shoot another wedding here.

Getting Ready

Lauren prepared for her wedding day at the cute little cottage I mentioned in the opening paragraph. She and her bridesmaids and the moms relaxed while they had their hair and makeup done in the cozy little space. It was absolutely perfect for them. When it came time for Lauren to dress, we utilized the screened-in sun room at the car of the cottage. The all-white room and plentiful natural light made her getting ready photos come out perfectly.

TJ and his Groomsmen and the dads decided to finish TJ’s final look outside, framing their efforts within an old cattle chute on the property at The Loft. They had a lot of fun giving TJ a hard time, but ultimately spent the morning loving all over him.

The First Looks

TJ was THE CUTEST when he saw Lauren for the first time! He is a man of few words, but his face said it all. With tears in his eyes and a big, goofy grin, he wrapped his stunning bride in his arms for a big hug and a kiss. Lauren was just as enamored with her handsome groom. They exchanged sweet nothings before we moved on to Lauren’s first look with her dad.

I think Lauren’s dad was a little surprised with her request for a first look with him. I think he really appreciated having a moment to connect with his little girl though, before he walked her down the aisle and gave her away. His reaction was so sweet and I was really happy that I was able to freeze that moment in time for them.

The Ceremony

Lauren and TJ were wed in front of the event barn at The Loft at Walnut Hill. The only thing prettier than the surrounding view was the touching ceremony. I adore an outdoor wedding ceremony, so it’s always nice when Mother Nature decides to cooperate with us. Nothing compares to the natural light and beauty that She provides.

The Reception

This wedding had some of my favorite wedding details this season! No corner was left untouched and the team at The Loft at Walnut Hill did an extraordinary job! One of my favorite details was the adorable wedding cake cart. I also loved the hanging eucalyptus chandelier and boxwood photo backdrop.

After several touching toasts and a quick cutting of the cake, the happy couple danced the night away to a live 80’s band, TJ’s favorite kind of music. The atmosphere was so much fun and everyone really got into it! I hope it was a very memorable night for the new Mr. and Mrs. Albaugh!

The Bridal Party Portraits

The Ladies lucked out with sunny skies for their portraits while the Gentleman only got a couple of shots before the skies opened up and we were dumped on. Fortunately the reception space was all ready for us to head inside to finish those up. This very large Bridal Party brought the party and we got some truly beautiful shots, courtesy of some amazing backdrops provided by the Venue.

The Bride and Groom

The crowing jewel of all wedding photos are the Bride and Groom portraits! We were able to sneak a few photos outdoors earlier in the day before a storm rolled in. However, due to bad weather after the ceremony, we photographed most of Lauren and TJ’s portraits in the second floor space inside of the main barn. I dusted off my off-camera-lighting skills and got these captivating snaps of the newlyweds. We finished up our session outside in the rain, again utilizing that off-camera lighting. The strobes froze the raindrops into what looks like diamonds or sparkles in the air around TJ and Lauren. Love it!

Lauren and TJ’s wedding was so much fun and truly exquisite! It was a pleasure working with them and working at The Loft at Walnut Hill!
